Rodolfo (Rudy) Gomez
Fellow, Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy
Rudy’s career has been shaped by a simple realization: finding valuable deposits is only half the job. As an exploration geologist, he learned to see patterns others missed—developing approaches that led to significant mineral discoveries over four decades. But each discovery raised the same question: how do you extract these resources responsibly? That question pulled him into an entirely different domain. He began designing cleaner processing systems, developing water treatment solutions, engineering more efficient extraction methods. The work resulted in 45 international patents—and a different way of thinking about the entire mineral value chain.
